‘Soyo Dong-haeng’ (Stroll Companion)

Let’s go around the neighborhood together
‘Soyo Dong-haeng’ is a service that allows you to collect and record a variety of information about the neighborhood through a walk, and communicate and share the information with neighbors

Have you ever greeted your neighbors or the residents of the same neighborhood? If yes, when was the last time you greeted them? Today, in Korea, due to the generalization of single-person households, indifference to the neighborhood and sudden changes due to Corona are becoming a problem. If we look at the perception evaluation related to our neighborhood, the rate of interest in neighborhood news is high at 81.3%, but the opinion that there is a special attachment to the neighborhood is at 37.5%, which does not give the meaning of ‘more than a residential area’. Although we meet various people through SNS, we have reached a situation where we do not each other with people who live in the same neighborhood. This will also have a huge impact on the communal spirit. If these phenomena of serving relationships in the community accelerates, social conflicts and distrust will increase, and the quality of life will be greatly reduced. As a generation that will lead the future of Korea, we recognized this as a serious social problem and decided to proceed with the design to solve the problem.

There is a standing position amid the prolonged COVID-19. It is ‘Seulsegwon’, a term meaning a very close residential area where you can walk around with slippers. We focused on this area and thought about how to foster a sense of community at the local level through activities that people can enjoy easily and simply. Inspired by ‘Strolling’ which received the most answers in ‘Seulsegwon’ related interviews. A stroll is a leisurely walk for rest or health, and it can be seen that it usually takes place in a ‘neighborhood’. We wandered slowly, thinking about how to get people interested in their neighborhood. The topics were selected based on the ability to directly collect information about the neighborhood and to share and communicate the collected information with neighbors.

‘Soyo Dong-haeng’ aims to record information based on walking maps, share their own walking maps, and provide community services. It plans to provide a home screen where people can directly collect information while walking, and a space to record the collected information on the map. People can share and communicate with local residents through the recorded ‘My Trail’, and edit one’s trail and view saved trails through ‘My Page’. ‘Soyo Dong-haeng’ is a walking service centered on sharing and communication. This app heals the body and mind of people who have been exhausted from the Corona virus and allows them to form a community with neighbors through sharing of ‘our neighborhood’ information. Inducing continuous interest and participation in the region through active communication between neighbors can create a sense of community and provide an opportunity for regional development.
