Taxi for a wider world

We currently live in a world where we can go anywhere we want with the development of transportation. In particular, cities are guaranteed a wide area of living as they can move quickly and conveniently to their destinations by public transportation such as taxis, buses, and subways. But are all members enjoying these benefits? Disabled people cannot freely use public transportation, so the government has made each local government provide a service called a ‘taxi for the disabled’. However, despite the existence of the service, it was difficult to use it properly due to problems that were not improved, and the current status of ‘taxi for the disabled’ is that there are too many people who have to experience inconvenience. In fact, in the interview, we were able to meet people who said that they were experiencing inconvenience due to the long interval between allocation of cars and the travel distances that were too different for each local government. The number of registered disabled people and the use of ‘taxi for the disabled’ are increasing every year. Because of this, we have come to think of it as a problem that can no longer be neglected. We became interested in creating an easy way to move between cities and cities, where all members could move freely around the city.

Currently, ‘taxi for the disabled’ has several problems.
In order to use a taxi with too few dispatches and a long waiting time in preparation for the number of people with disabilities, it is necessary to make a reservation and wait for a long time as if competing with each other. In general taxis, you can take a taxi anywhere in 10 minutes by waving your hand on the street or calling a taxi directly through an application such as Kakao Taxi. There is also the problem of operating individual services that are not linked to each local government. It is possible to move from one area to another because each local government has different operating areas, but taxis from other areas do not operate in their area, so they have to transfer to a taxi in another area or use the subway. In addition, to use a taxi in a new area each time, documents proving that you are eligible for use must be authenticated, and most documents must be submitted by fax.
As problems such as long waiting times, transferring taxis to other areas, and submitting fax documents become complicated, it becomes very difficult to move freely even with the ‘taxi for the disabled’.
In order to solve the above problem, we designed an app, Wit.T, that integrates the nationwide taxi service for the disabled, simplifies the authentication process and shortens the dispatch time, and is easily accessible with a smartphone.

We think that Wit.T, an integrated service, will help create a larger city where people who can’t drive or use public transportation can easily make an appointment at any time and go anywhere they want.
